Happy Mother’s Day AND a Message from my Mom

578

Happy (almost) Mother’s Day to all mothers out there! I understand that we should be celebrating our mom’s everyday but I love that there is a day set aside for us to truly remember to thank our mom’s for being awesome. Sometimes we need those reminders…and I think that’s just fine. We also need reminders to get our mom’s special gifts. The last few weeks I have been on the hunt for the perfect gift for my mom and I think I have finally found it! I won’t share here…don’t want her to find out :) I love giving people gifts. Especially when you know they are going to love them! Originally I wanted to write a post giving LCN readers some good gift ideas for moms…but the more I thought about it, it just didn’t make sense. I’m not a mom and I have no idea what moms want. Not only that but moms go through all different stages of life…young moms to moms with teenagers to moms with grown adult kids with kids of their own. How was I supposed to suggest gift ideas to cover all that?? It just seemed impossible. So I decided to do something a little different than what all the other bloggers are doing…

I decided to ask my Mom to help me compose this post. It was so much fun talking to her about Mother’s Day. Most of the time we just plan to get together, do something fun and the day passes. I’ve never asked her what her wants or desires were as a mom…that was fun. :) Here is what she said…

Me: “So Mom, I want to write a post explaining to my readers what moms TRULY want on Mother’s Day. And since I’m not a mom I have no idea what moms really want. I thought it would be good coming from another mom…you know…mom to mom…help all us lame kids out here! :)

My Mom: “Oh gosh…you know I don’t need anything…”

Me: “That’s not the point, Mom. Whatever comes to mind! Don’t think too hard just tell me what you desire on Mother’s Day.”

My Mom: Okay…

“Hand-written note or a thoughtful card is always my favorite.”

“I guess when it comes to receiving gifts I would love something that I will see everyday…things I can tough and see. I want to look at it and think of you! Maybe a picture frame, clock, jewelry dish, you know? Things that remind me of you kids.”

“Spending the day with my kids. Just being together…”

It might not look like much but it’s the truth…I kept bugging my mom to tell me more! I was waiting for her to say something like…well I wish someone would help pick up the house, or I hope everyone just gets along, etc. But no, her answers were honest and sweet! I’m sure every mom would love it if us kids helped around the house or didn’t pick a fight on Mother’s Day, but I bet deep down inside they just hope to be together. I am so glad I asked my mom this simple question…now go ask your mom! OR use it as your gift guide for your mom! Give the gift of time and be with her all day…write her a sweet note she can keep forever…or fill a picture frame with my favorite picture to give to her. I hope this message from my Mom helps you make your mom’s Mother’s Day the best yet…

Thank you for sharing, Mom…I love you! I hope you get everything your heart desires this Mother’s Day…you deserve it so much.

xoxo, madison naomi
